Erotic Novel

Following the explicit sex scenes in my novels A Ceremony Of Innocence and Innocence Exploded which were part of the plot rather than the whole purpose of the novels, I am attempting to write an erotic novel which has sex as its main theme. This is far harder than I thought.
It concerns Tom who has from his teens loved and lusted after Jenny but finds his love unfulfilled. Though always desiring Jenny he subsumes that love in a series of sexual encounters with other women.
The working title is the Affair though this can change.

Two brothers are at home on holiday much to the delight of their mother. It is the first time they have been at home together for several years.Their father is a union convener in the local shipyard and while they are at home he leads the shipyard workers out on strike against the propose redundancies. Though on the surface both brothers support their father, underneath the surface there simmers the stew of disagreement. Mark, the older brother is home fresh from travelling the sea as a ships officer and refuses to compromise his upwardly mobile life for the sake of family harmony. He lives for the moment and grabs any opportunity for happiness. Jim is freshly graduated from university and supports his father passionately without question.
Can the brothers find a way to compromise their positions and fulfil  their mother's wish for a few happy weeks? Will their anger boil over into open conflict and a family break up.

Having broken off his relationship with his long time girl friend Sue, Mark Brookes sets out to begin a relationship with Jane who he had met in Nottingham while giving his brother Jim a lift back to the university. Jane's father offers him a job in the City of London and the chance to gain further qualifications. It does mean he will have to leave the sea. It also opens up the question of whether he has been offered the post because of Jane or on merit.
He is reminded of why he had split with Sue when he has the chance to make love to Jane's sister. He realises it is his nature to grasp the opportunity for love making which happen to come his way. His dalliance with his brother's girl friend had ended their relationship as well as his and Sue's. He reasons that if Jane does not know, she will not be hurt.
His innocence is exploded on one fateful day.!

Both novels contain scenes of explicit sex.

Another moan!!

Here I go again. It appears rather " do as I say not as I do" from the British prime minister again. Earlier, he was encouraging the British public to take their holidays in the UK instead of in some other country. What graces the front page of the Times this morning? A photograph of David Cameron and family holidaying in Lanzerroti.  It is not that I am envious of the prime minister being able to get away from the cold damp weather of the UK at Easter but the hypocrisy of his remarks. It is another example of a class of people, those who are currently in charge of the country, being out of touch with how most of the population live their lives.
Then there is education! Give schools to all his mates so that they can make money or leave these problem schools in the care of charities with no funds. The whole idea stinks. It is nothing to do with education but a combination of antipathy to local government and greed. They would love to go back to a system which leaves the majority of the population without any chance of advancing themselves so the elite always retain the levers of power. Dickensian situations here we come.

Austerity!

It is still rankling with me when apologists for the UK government insist that they are all for the disadvantaged. They go on about helping disabled and those with other problems get back to work.  As an example of this they force a disabled driver who can only get to work by having a modified car give up her car allowance. If this happens she will not be able to work and will have to rely on state help to survive. How is this helping people into work? These arrogant men and women in charge of the country have no idea how the ordinary citizens live. They give to the rich while taking from those most in need. Surely those rich people who make sure they do not pay their fair share of taxes should be ashamed of their selfishness!

No Idea

How can anybody who has come from the privileged  background of Eton and Oxbridge understand what it is like having no money? They can talk all they like about helping all and everybody being in this together but they do not have any idea of what the rest of the world is like. They take from the poor and give to the rich. They re supported by MPs who think their salary, over twice as much as the ordinary person, is too little. Then they get expenses for doing things which other people pay for out of their taxed salary.
On a different note, these people who blamed the Liberal Democrats at the last election are now finding out how they helped to reign in the Tories during the five years of the coalition. I hope they are sorry now because the Liberal Democrats are the only hope for the country after what is happening in the Labour Party.
In the novel An Ordinary Life by Edmund Gubbins Tom Houseman goes to a :about Party meeting and finds the local party committee taken over by hard left people. They insult some of the old members who have been supporting the local party for years and years in an attempt to force them to give up coming to the meetings. This appears to be happening now. the result was that Labour did not win an election from 1979 to 1997!

Mr Scrooge

Can the UK ever have had a government more like Mr Scrooge and Mr Marley? David Cameron must hide his head in the sand when he talks about compassionate conservatism and all being in this together. They take money from the poor and least able in society and give it to the rich. Why do rich people always want more rather than give their share? They are the ones who moan about scroungers on benefits while making sure they do not pay their share of taxes. Cameron makes sure that the rich do not have to bear the burden of austerity. It is the rich who complain about having to increase the minimum wage. If they gave up their million pound bonuses they could employ another 20 people in their business. I know we have to earn money before it can be given out but they are earning money. The only trouble is that the other side is just as bad in the other direction!
In An Ordinary Life by Edmund Gubbins this question among others is explored.

He finds opportunities through his friends and his brother to enhance both his wealth and standing in society. Christianity and sexuality

Christianity and sexuality.

What do Christians mean by bible led as though this means taking what is written in the bible is the words of God? The bible does relate the Christian story and has the message of the way to live our lives stated. What then do we do on a Sunday in Church? We sit and listen to the minister preach about how to interpret the bible passages in the light of the modern age. There are shelves of books of theology interpreting Gods message. Our understanding of the world in which we live expands all the time. It could be said that the rules are laid down and we have to discover them.
When it comes to sexuality some Christians are rigid in their interpretation of the message in the bible. This is to be admired in the way they live with the attitudes of many people, the antagonism and sneering. I think they are wrong to ridicule homosexuals in the way some do. We have learnt that it is genetic. We should welcome our knowledge and show christian love.
But I can hear some people saying that the bible says.... Well the bible says thou shalt not kill but right wing christian republicans in the USA support the death penalty. Theologians have worked out the concept of a just war. Once the church laid down that the earth was flat and persecuted anybody who questioned their policy. In Uganda the church supports the executing of homosexuals. As our knowledge grows how we interpret the message grows.
The most important thing in the christian life is Love Thy God and Love Thy Neighbour Like thyself. That is the message we should be putting all our energy to propagating.
May you all walk hand in hand with the Lord in your journey through life.

Tales From The Sea by Eddie Gubbins

Tales from the Sea is a semi-autobiographical novel based on Eddie Gubbins' life at sea between 1957 and 1969. In its pages the reader will meet the characters, the good, the bad, the comedians and the tough men who manned the ships. They will experience the nights ashore dull, exotic and drunken. Through his eyes they will sample the places he visited. read about the different ships, old and new, as they ploughed across the oceans carrying the products of the world. Weaving a spell over everything is the sea and all its calm or dangerous moods.
To most seamen the sea itself calls. No seaman will ever know what moods will greet them when they sail out of port to meet their mistress or how the mood can change very quickly. This is the excitement of the sea!

The Sailor’s Mistress

When the cargo is loaded and all falls quiet
The sea itself is calling,
Beckoning the sailor out there beyond the dock.
His mistress is waiting
Where the river meets the sea.
He has no real knowledge of what her reaction will be When he sails out to meet her.
She may greet him in a calm, balmy mood,
Like a gentle lover entwining him in her arms,
Leaving him refreshed and happy when they part.
It might be that she is angry
And will meet him with unmatched violence
A violence that beats upon the senses
And leaves the lovers drained and exhausted,
Ready to rush apart,
Ready to find a place of peace and quiet
Not the feeling of complete satisfaction.
Like all lovers, the sea and the sailor
Will never quite know what moods will greet them when they meet
Or how the mood can change very quickly.
This is the excitement of the sea.
Every time a ship leaves port,
The sailor approaches that love
With a mixture of exhilaration and apprehension.
Will they together make beautiful love under a clear blue sky
Or will they fight?
It is not for the sailor to subdue the sea
But to live with her moods
In the hope that he can survive.
The sea is calling, always calling
As a lover calls.

Princess Daphne a fantasy novel by Eddie Gubbins

It has been six years since the war with the Black Elves and their being sent back to the other place by Edward Eastland as related in the three novels of the Rombuli Saga. During those six years Edward had settled into his role as the Governor of Rombuli and Sandaria. His trading business was prospering and his home life happy. His daughter Dorethea  was shoeing signs of power or magic as Tag would describe it. His son Thomas was demonstrating healing powers. Tag's son William had set himself up, even at six years old, as the protector of Dorethea.
In those quiet moments, when Edward was on his own, he had to admit that he was missing the tension and the fear that had been part of his life. At times he could almost feel the tingle when he had entered an alien space not knowing what enemies he would find. He missed the fast beating heart while creeping through enemy territory. Then he thought of the pulling in of his power to help his friends or himself. Testing himself against other people who wanted to use their power to subjugate other people. All this he missed.
With no warning, one day the dragon Ambrosa arrives from the Golden City of the Elves. She informs him that she has been sent by the Queen of the Elves to tell him that an alien creature has ben captured by the elves. All they can understand from the creature is the name Edward Eastland.. Will he come to the Golden City and help to solve the mystery of the creature.
Edward has to consider whether if he answer the cry for help he will be drawn back into the world he thought he had left for ever.
